Late Sunday Sweden defeated defending-champion Russia with 1–0 in overtime to win their first title in 31 years. Through the lens of the Aftonbladet photographer Jimmy Wixtröm you could follow the Swedish hockey team celebrate it’s win in the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
In the latest chapter of hockey’s classic Nordic rivalry, the Finnish lions demolished Sweden 6-1 in the gold medal game of the 2011 IIHF World Championship. This means that the Finns have beaten Sweden to the World Championship title in both ice hockey and floorball.
The 16-year wait for Finnish fans was finally over and the celebration was on, not only in the arena, but from Helsinki to Rovaniemi.
World Cup Celebration
